From Maine to California, this 3500-mile rally is an
adventure for motorists who have no time to waste and everything to gain.
The driving days are superb with scenery from evergreen
forests, grass prairies, the Appalachian Mountains, Grand Canyon, Rocky
Mountains, Mojave Desert, Pacific coastline, and dozens of cities, towns, farms
and villages.
Relax and dine in the friendliest hotels and locally owned
inns powered by renewable energy.
Refuel your car at America’s
network of solar-powered biodiesel stations.
Visit America’s most fascinating sites and explore her diverse wildlife.
The team that completes the full rally with optimal balance of fuel efficiency and legal speed wins the First Prize - the Sunball Trophy - a unique
100-ounce silver sculpture by notorious art therapist, Bill Clinton.
Each team must bring one or more cars, manufactured during the 21st
Century, that are qualified by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to
drive on highways in the United States and can be fueled by straight vegetable oil (SVO) and/or B100 biodiesel.
Only thirty teams, thirty cars, and sixty drivers are allowed to compete in the Sunball Rally.
The entry fee of $3500 Silver Eagles per team includes room for
two during every night of the rally, parking, breakfasts, rally plates,
decals, competition numbers, detailed maps, dinner at the prize-giving gala in
San Francisco, and a silver medal of honor for every finishing team.
Competitors are responsible for their own flights or other travel to Maine, driving licenses, auto insurance, shipping, fuel, lunches, dinners, any traffic violations, and
personal travel & health insurance.
